Carers Link East Dunbartonshire has been shortlisted for the Bank of Scotland Community Fund 2014.
By encouraging the public to vote, Carers Link has a chance to be awarded a grant of up to £3,000 from the Bank of Scotland to enable it to continue running the Positive Me group for carers in the community.
The focus of Positive Me is to give carers time for themselves to try new things to improve their health and well-being. Demand has been high for these sessions, which include yoga, expressive art and a wellbeing walk to name a few, however in order to continue to provide the service they need additional funding.
Chief Executive Jennifer Roe said: “In the last year 400 carers contacted Carers Link for the first time and three-quarters of them told us that caring was causing them to feel stressed or depressed. We would love people to vote for us as the award will enable us to continue to provide relaxation therapies and hobby activities to highlight how important it is for carers to take time to look after themselves.”
Carer Carole Withers from Bearsden said: “The project is excellent and helped me to feel totally relaxed - as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.”
Members of the public have until October 10 to vote for Carers Link online - http://bos-cf.co.uk/VTD, by text ‘VOTE VTD’ to 82332 or by Twitter via your Twitter account - create a new message with the following hashtag #CommFund VTD (with a space before VTD).
