A cook from Bearsden has won a top award for going the extra mile to deliver high standards of care to elderly and vulnerable people.
Janet Hamilton, who works at Antonine House in Bearsden, picked up the Staff Newcomer Award, which was voted for by residents, their families and staff, at Meallmore Ltd’s annual awards ceremony recently.
Janet said: “It is great to work at Meallmore and I’d like to thank them for the opportunity to meet and care for so many wonderful people. I would also like to thank the team at Antonine House for being excellent mentors from when I first started.”
Janet received the accolade for spending time with residents to really find out what types of food they like. She used this information to creating nutritious meal options, with fresh and locally sourced ingredients for them to choose from.
Since joining the company Janet has shown great commitment and has been promoted within her role.
The ceremony, which took place at Perth Race Course on October 9, celebrated the positive impact staff at the home make to people’s lives on a daily basis.
Speaking after the award ceremony, Gerry Hennessey, managing director, said: “I am very proud of Janet for winning the award. It’s important that we take time to recognise our employees’ outstanding efforts and ongoing commitment to our residents. These awards are a great way to identify these individuals and say thank you.”
