NOMINATIONS have closed for the May 3 local government elections to East Dunbartonshire Council (EDC).
There are 45 candidates standing across the authority area - and Milngavie and Bearsden’s three wards - Bearsden North and South and Milngavie - will elect three each.
EDC chief executive Gerry Cornes is the Returning Officer for the election. He said: “We are just a month away from the election when the people of East Dunbartonshire will have the opportunity to have their say and help shape the new council.
“It is worth remembering that councillors will be elected using the Single Transferable Vote system which means voters are asked to rank the candidates on their ballot papers in order of preference. There’ll be more information on this on the council’s website in the coming weeks.”
To be eligible to vote you must be on the electoral register by Wednesday, April 18. To find out if you are registered to vote or to request a registration form go to the website of your local Valuation Joint Board at www.dab-vjb.gov.uk. Alternatively call them on 0141 562 1200 or write to The Electoral Registration Officer, 235 Dumbarton Road, Clydebank, G81 4XJ.
