BREAKING - “high value” jewellery theft in Bearsden

Thieves who staged a broad daylight jewellery heist in Bearsden are being hunted by police.

Robbers smashed a window of McGowan’s on New Kirk Road and made off with what’s been described as a “high value” haul, including rings and bracelets.

The raid happened at midday on Tuesday when a male member of staff was in the shop.

He was uninjured but police said he was left in a “very distressed” state.

The first suspect is described as around 6 ft 2 inches in height, with a heavy build, wearing a black balaclava.

They were wearing a dark coloured jacket and grey coloured jogging trousers.

The second suspect is around 5 ft 5 inches in height, wearing a black balaclava, purple jacket and black trousers.

It’s thought the suspects made off in a white Nissan 4x4 car.

Officers are gathering CCTV images in an effort to find out further detail on the suspects.

There are a number of other stores in this street and officers are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area who may have noticed the two suspects prior to or following the incident to get in touch with them.

Anyone with information is asked to call DC Alister Thom on the non-emergency number, 101.

Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
