Biggar Marches and Gala Day 2011

BIGGAR Fleming Queen Amy Watkins loved Saturday’s Gala Day celebrations, when she had a carriage ride through a rainy town centre before being crowned outside the Municipal Hall.

Biggar Primary School pupil Amy (11), of John’s Loan, described her big day as “funny and exciting”.

“It was the best day of my life so far,” Amy said.

Amy’s crowning by Betty Gray was the culmination of a week of special events in the town – including the Biggar Marches on Sunday, June 12, in which a record 130 riders took part.
