Bearsen BB band shines in national contest

Star musicians from the 1st Bearsden Boys Brigade have scored a dazzling hat trick of top honours at the BB’s national bands competition in Motherwell.

The two local bands involved won no less than three categories at the 34th annual Scottish Bands Contest, staged before a 1,000-strong audience in Motherwell Concert Hall on April 27.

Their stunning performances earned them first place in the categories Mini Pipe Band Novice, Mini Pipe Band Novice – Drill, Deportment and Turnout; and Pipe Band Novice- Drill Deportment and Novice.

1st Bearsden bandmaster Colin Forbes said: “I am very proud of the young men from Ist Bearsden – they are a credit to our Company.

“They have been working really hard towards this by putting in hours of practice, and I am delighted their dedication has led to this successful result.”

More than 350 young people aged 9 to 18 took part in this year’s event.
