Christmas started early for Bearsden and Milngavie Youth Orchestra (BMYO) - on December 6 to be exact.

Kate O’Donnell, chairperson of the BMYO, said: “Once more, approximately 100 members in four orchestra groups entertained family and friends with music which ranged from Abba, through to the Phantom of the Opera and the Nutcracker Suite.

“A prominent performance on the night was given by the winner of our last Concerto competition, Alvin Bucher, who played Mozart’s Horn Concerto with the Symphony Orchestra.”

Rudolph, Winter Wonderland and other Christmas songs set everyone up for the festive season at the event.

Bearsden and Milngavie Youth Orchestra is a youth orchestra for children aged eight to 18.

They have four sections, currently best described as friendly ensembles - string orchestra, wind band, concert orchestra and symphony orchestra.

They have now resumed - Thursdays 7pm to 8.30pm at Douglas Academy in Milngavie and they are always happy to accept new members in any section of the orchestra.
