Bearsden and Milngavie Fairtrade group formally launch with fashion show

BEARSDEN and Milngavie Fairtrade Group is holding a free fair trade fare and fashion show to promote good practise in the area on March 9 between 2 and 4pm in Milngavie Town Hall.

The group which was only set up last year is supported by the Scottish Fair Trade Forum and an early goal of the group is to gain Fair Trade Town status as accredited by the Fairtrade Foundation.

Currently the members are gathering evidence to find out the extent of fair trade activity in Bearsden and Milngavie.

At show will feature Fairtrade clothing with stalls showcasing an extensive range of local suppliers’ Fairtrade ranges and other attractions.

Organisers hope that two visitors from Malawi will be present to explain the importance of Fairtrade to their livelihoods.

Also on offer will be Fairtrade teas, coffees and biscuits and a live string ensemble.
