Asda Bearsden is launching its Give a Gift at Christmas appeal, to support local charities nominated by customers.

Earlier this year the store asked people to put forward charities supporting the themes of ‘kids’, ‘warmth’ and ‘food poverty’ and the chosen charities are Cash for Kids, East Dunbartonshire Foodbank and East Dunbartonshire Social Work.

There will be a different theme each week in-store during December.

Customers can support the charities in two ways: by depositing a token at the Community Life noticeboard, or by buying an extra gift in fitting with the themes and dropping it off at the collection point.

Store manager Danny McCabe said: “Christmas is one of our busiest times of year but the generosity of our colleagues and customers never ceases to amaze me. The nominated charities are all doing great work in our community and I hope we can raise not just funds for them, but donate gifts that will help make someone else’s Christmas that little bit better.”
