Police Scotland are appealing for information following a fatal road crash in the Springburn area of Glasgow this morning (Thursday).
Around 0750am emergency services were called to a report of an elderly woman being struck by a van on Millarbank Street near to its junction with Keppochhill Road.
Emergency services attended and the 76 year old victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road is currently closed and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police Constable Adnan Alam from the Divisional Road Policing Unit based at Helen Street said: “We understand that the victim was walking north along Millarbank Street and thereafter began to cross the road from the west footpath to the east, at which time she was struck by a van.”
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around 0750am and may have witnessed what happened to please contact the police.”
“Anyone with information is asked to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Helen Street via 101, quoting incident number 0587 of Thursday 25 January 2018.”
