CHILDREN visiting Mugdock Country Park will have even more to shout about this spring - as the new play park is due to open in the next couple of weeks.

Funded by the Park’s Joint Management Committee, it is currently under construction and will be more than twice the size of the existing facility.

As well as the traditional apparatus such as swings, slides and climbing frames, the play park will feature a woodland walk and will be surrounded by a wooden fort wall, linking the experience of play with the park’s built heritage.

Thomas Glen, head of development and enterprise at East Dunbartonshire Council, said: “Over the years Mugdock’s formal play areas have declined so we wanted to ensure we could provide children with a modern play facility that they can enjoy for years to come.

“Thanks to support from the Joint Management Committee, which comprises elected members of East Dunbartonshire and Stirling Councils, we are sure it will be a hit with our younger visitors.”

This latest improvement to the facilities at the park comes on the back of last year’s investment in the new Charlie’s Theatre and Cafe Bar. This development enhances the excellent facilities already on offer at the park.
