LOCAL authority schools will no longer be inspected by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate, Education Scotland, because the system has been replaced with Validated Self Evaluation (VSE).
East Dunbartonshire Council participated in VSE between April and June 2012.
The role of the inspectorate from Education Scotland is to provide support and challenge to the council team.
The VSE indentified the following strengths:
Strong leadership by senior officers which is having a positive impact on outcomes for children and young people.
Effective planning and reporting systems which are creating a better connection across the council and between departments.
Very robust and vigorous methods for self-evaluation with very good date sources which are being used effectively to evaluate performance and set future targets for improvements.
High levels of attainment and achievement for almost all children and young people and very effective support for young people in need of more choices and more changes.
Highly reflective practitioners and leaders who engage purposefully in self-evaluation to achieve a culture of continuous improvement.
Councillor Eric Gotts, Convener of Education said: “This was a comprehensive and thorough self evaluation of East Dunbartonshire Council’s Education Service. I would like to congratulate everyone who took part.”
