Celtic star Kris Commons’ partner Lisa Hague is organising a special night with a Duran Duran tribute band to raise cash for Marie Curie.
Lisa and Kris donated some daffodils to their local Marie Curie shop in Bearsden last February in memory of their daughter Lola.
While they were there they met Murray, the fundraising manager for Glasgow, and he invited them to visit the hospice for a cuppa and a chat.
Lisa said: “On a tour of the hospice I met a lovely lady called Eleanor who was being cared for in the ward.
“She told me all about how Marie Curie had helped her for a number of years and how they were currently caring for her. I was blown away by her story and I have been supporting Marie Curie ever since.”
Lisa vowed to raise £30K for Marie Curie to mark her 30th birthday.
Her friend and fellow nursery-mum, Claire Cassells, offered to help organise the event with Durananduran in Meet Me At The Corner in Milngavie on Friday, May 29.
Claire said: “It should be a great night.
“All ticket and raffle proceeds will go to Lisa’s £30K Challenge.
“This will help Marie Curie nurses to provide more free care to local people with terminal illnesses in their own homes and in the hospice.
“I’m keen to sell all the tickets so that we can raise as much as possible for this amazing charity.
“Durananduran were delighted to perform for free, which was incredibly generous of them!”
Tickets (£18) are available from MMATC. To donate to Lisa’s justgiving page go to www.justgiving.com/Lisa30k/
