‘Wellness’ festival to
support local women

In this time of stress, an
enterprising Bearsden woman has set up a social enterprise project in the form of a
virtual wellbeing festival from 11-13 June.

“That Ilk Wellness Fest” brings together a host of local professionals over three days to deliver free movement sessions, crafts workshops and conversations via Zoom, around themes like Coping with Constant Change and Re-designing Our Lives.

Each session will be completely free as the festival is aimed to help anyone in the East Dunbartonshire area and has a particular aim at supporting women.

It is the brainchild of Ina Pabat-Stroe, a professional marketer from Bearsden, who quickly noticed the need for extra-support. Ina secured a small grant through the Corra Foundation for the idea of a virtual wellness festival and has put together a programme to benefit the community by inspiring self care and offering tools for people to take a much needed break.

Ina said: “As lockdown took hold back in April I realised that the mental health of many people in and around the area was suffering during this crisis and we all needed a feel-good, virtual hug event that could lift spirits, help us cope and reframe the new reality of our lives.

“So this festival was born with the idea of creating some positivity in an ocean of bad news. By bringing a community together in a positive way, I hope I can, in a small way, make a difference to the community’s wellbeing.”

More than 10 different professionals will be each delivering sessions on subjects such as Dealing with change, Mindfulness and Meditation, family disco and improving the quality of sleep. To sign up register at www.thatilk.org/rsvp
