A visual tour around new-look Lanark Primary
Hundreds of those reading these words will have attended the ‘old’ Lanark Primary at some time since it first opened its doors back in May, 1957.
Practically the only thing that remains of their old school is the ceremonial key used to open it 55 years ago, now preserved in a display case in a place of honour in the foyer of its replacement building, along with the original school bell.

The new school cost £8.6 million – and looks it.
Just how different this new school is from its stark, functional, ‘blocky’ predecessor is difficult to convey in words, given just HOW radically different it is.
However, the pictures taken by Gazette photographer Lindsay Addison, featured in our slideshow, paint a pretty good picture of the changes. Enjoy!
