Disruption as £200k upgrade to water network at Bishopbriggs takes place

The improvement project begins on Monday 17 May and involves upgrades to around 400 metres of water main in Pentland Drive, Beauly Place and Dornoch Place.

The work is being carried out by Scottish Water contractor Clancy Docwra and is anticipated to take around eight weeks for completion.

To enable the work to take place, road traffic management has been agreed in liaison with East Dunbartonshire Council.

From Monday 14 June, three-way traffic lights will be in operation at the junction of Pentland Drive and Wester Cleddens Road for approximately three weeks.

Drivers are advised to leave additional time for travel and follow signage which will be in place.

Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs regional manager, said: “This work is vital to ensure our customers in the area continue to enjoy clear, fresh drinking water. It will add resilience to our network and help reduce the chance of pipes bursting.

“We don’t anticipate any interruption to normal water supplies when the work is being carried out. We would like to thank local residents and road users for their patience and understanding during these essential upgrades.

All work will be carried out in accordance with Scottish government guidance for construction sector during the Covid-19 pandemic, with social distancing and additional hygiene measures.
