MP backs bid to get fair deal
He says thousands of his constituents will lose badly if people on Universal Credit are allowed to keep only 24p in every extra pound they are able to earn.
The MP is backing shopworkers’ union USDAW in their fight to force the government to U-Turn on the policy.

Hide AdHe said: “Many working people will be clobbered by this 76 per cent marginal deduction rate for taxpayers on Universal Credit.
“That will put off claimants from working longer hours and potential second earners from working at all, perpetuating the poverty trap for families on low pay.”
