Young swimmers’ medals splash

Young sports stars from Milngavie & Bearsden Swimming Club enjoyed their most successful Scottish Schools championships in several years recently with a total of eight medals for their respective schools.

Jack Thorpe and Calum Tait - both from Douglas Academy put in good performances to come away with two medals each.

Jack won gold in the 200m freestyle and Bronze 100m freestyle.

Calum won silver in the 200m breaststroke and bronze in the 100m breaststroke.

Boclair Academy pupils Kirstin McKinley and Julie Williams also had a successful day. Kirsty got a gold in the 200m freestyle) and silver in 100m freestyle. Julie picked up bronze in the 100m backstroke.

Fellow club member Lauren Averell was the club’s other champion, winning the 100m butterfly.
