THE Ignis Asset Management Women’s 10k takes place in Glasgow on Sunday, May 13 and women from Milngavie, Bearsden and beyond are being urged to make a new year’s resolution to take part.
Leading children’s charity, Action for Children, is encouraging women from Dunbartonshire to put their best foot forward to raise money for a good cause – and keep fit at the same time.
Lesley Kane, a parent who uses Action for Children Scotland’s services, said: “Last year I ran the Ignis Asset Management Glasgow Women’s 10k for Action for Children Scotland.
“It was a fantastic day - the run itself was a real challenge, but I enjoyed pushing myself and there was a great spirit between all those who took part.
“I am proud of myself for both completing the run and supporting such a deserving charity.
“Action for Children is a lifeline for our entire family.
“Our son is severely autistic and although caring for him can be exhausting at times, we are determined to do all we can to give him the full and happy childhood he deserves.
“With the support we receive from Action for Children we will leave no stone unturned to end my son’s frustration and help him reach his full potential.”
Action for Children Scotland fundraiser, Carol McKinlay, hopes that runners from Dunbartonshire will use the opportunity to raise money for the charity, which supports the country’s most vulnerable children and young people.
She said: “Online entries are now open for the Ignis Asset Management Women’s 10k – let us know when you have signed up and we will provide you with a running vest and a fundraising pack.
“All money raised will help Action for Children provide a wide range of support to children and families across Scotland.
“Last year 90 women from across the country ran for Action for Children Scotland, raising almost £7,000. This year we hope 150 women will race for Action for Children – and we want to hear from runners from Dunbartonshire!”
