THIS Saturday West of Scotland FC return to league rugby with a trip to Ardrossan.

The Burnbrae squad pipped Ardrossan 51-36 in a highly entertaining game earlier in the season, but since then the Ayrshire side have performed consistently and sit comfortably in fourth position in the RBS Championship A league.

According to head coach Ewan Smith this is a must win game as the squad has this and two other league games remaining before the end of the season.

The club is fighting to avoid relegation for the third season running.

And with nearly a full squad to choose from, Smith is in optimistic mood.

Only Jack Walker is not available due to work commitments abroad and Stuart Malone is still out on long term injury.

Smith (pictured above) said: “Not many teams have gone to Ardrossan and got a result in the last few years.

“I think they are unbeaten at home this season.

“We just need to go down there and play smart rugby in the right areas in attack and in defence we need aggressive line speed followed up with committed tackles.

“It’s the same message that I’ll be giving to the players this week as every week, basically do the simple things well and we’ll give ourselves a chance.”
