FIVE Milngavie and Bearsden Swimming Club members took part in the British Team Championships recently in Sheffield.
Lauren Averell, Jess Black, Kirstin McKinley, Calum Tait and Jack Thorpe all put in excellent performances to help the West of Scotland team to a 14th place finish out of the 40 clubs that competed from throughout the UK.
Kirstin led the way with the highest individual finish of anyone on the team with a second place in the girls 16/17 100m freestyle with a time of 56.81seconds.
In the boys event Jack Thorpe had a personal best to take seventh in 52.50.
Boys team captain Calum Tait swam an impressive 1.05.29 100m breaststroke to claim sixth place and Lauren Averell also posted a personal best time of 1.04.95 to take 12th in the 16/17 100m Butterfly.
Jess Black, in what was her first outing with the district team, put in a fantastic final leg to help the girls 12/13 medley relay to a 10th place finish.
