Milngavie 2002s FC 7
Westerton FC 2
A Mark Forsyth hat-trick helped Milngavie FC 2002s to a convincing home win in this local derby game.
Milngavie produced their best performance of the season and took an early lead when Forsyth scored a superb individual goal after 4 minutes.
He was back on the scoresheet a few minutes later when he curled in a sublime free kick from 25 yards to make it 2-0.
Milngavie were now playing with flair and confidence. Ross Crawford at left back was on great form and together with Murphy Hand they dominated the left wing. Hand played some amazing football and his powerful run and cross after 20 minutes allowed Ross Simpson to tap home to make it 3-0. Forsyth was on target again from close range on the half hour to secure his hat-trick and Milngavie’s 4th.
Simpson was then first to react when Hand’s excellent effort was parried into the box by the Westerton keeper to give the home side a well deserved 5-0 half time lead.
The visitors started the second half in determined fashion and reduced the deficit almost immediately with a very well taken goal.
Milngavie were stunned a few minutes later when Westerton lashed in a superb free kick to make it 5-2. The visitors had to then battle to regain control of the match and Cameron Dodds typified that fighting spirit with another commanding performance in midfield whilst new signing Charlie Gallacher had an outstanding debut at the centre of the Milngavie defence.
This effort was rewarded when Jamie Fettes on the right for Milngavie fired an inch perfect cross for Hand to score with a powerful header.
Russell Ewing rounded off a tireless performance with a well worked goal late on to round off the scoring. Milngavie have now won three out of their last four league games.
