PARTICK THISTLE booked their place in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup after beating Cove Rangers 2-1 at Firhill.
The first goal was a cracker from the boot of Ross Forbes in the 13th minute. He slammed a 20 yard shot into the top of the net to put the home side ahead.
Despite Thistle being reduced to 10 men when Steven Craig was sent off an own goal by Alan Redford in the 38th minute gave the Jags some breathing space going into the second round.
Cove were handed a lifeline on the hour when Conrad Balatoni was penalised for blocking a volley with his hand. But Danny Milne’s spot kick was saved by Scott Fox.
Milne made amends though with four minutes left when he scored a late consolidation goal for 35 yards out, but it was too little to late.
