Thistle suffered their first home defeat of the season at the hands of Morton when they went down 2-1.
The Firhill side started well with Ross Forbes almost scoring in the fourth minute and Steven Craig did find the Morton net three minutes later, but the goal was disallowed when the referee Bobby Madden decided he had fouled the keeper.
But in the 28th minute Thistle got that all important first goal when Craig headed a Steven Lawless shot in. Morton fought back and almost levelled going into the interval.
The visitors had to wait until the 64 minute to level the score. Martin Hardie drilled the ball past Graeme Smith as the team piled increasing pressure on the home side.
The Firhill side were then reduced to 10 men in the 76th minute when Ross Forbes - booked earlier - was shown the red card for a foul on Craig Reid.
Both sides were chasing the maximum points, but it was Morton’s Scott Taggart who made it 2-1 with a close range shot.
