With just over two weeks before Partick Thistle play their first SPL game the squad limbered up in their latest friendly - a goalless draw at Livingston on Tuesday.
But far from being a damp squib, the game crackled with entertainment and some frayed nerves towards the end.
Livingston started better but Thistle found their pace quickly. Ross Forbes was central to much of what Thistle produced during the first half but other players, including Steven Lawless, Christie Elliot and Kris Doolan, also had a good stab at the Livi goal throughout the game.
Livingston responded with gusto though and gave as good as they got.
At the tail end of the game, the referee produced a number of yellow cards as tempers frayed after a late Livingston challenge on a young Jags trialist.
Meanwhile on the injury front, Sean Welsh has fractured his toe and will be out for about a month. Stuart Bannigan received another knock to his ankle and Mark McGuigan has an inflamed tendon.
Thistle’s next friendly is an away match against Arbroath on Saturday. Kick-off is 3pm.
