Thistle move closer to regaining top spot

PARTICK Thistle continued their winning ways with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Dumbarton and move two points behind league leader Morton.

The Jags’ first goal came after nine minutes when Stephen O’Donnell’s chip cross from the right was headed down by Steven Craig and Steven Lawless was in the right place to divert the ball into the net.

The hosts had to wait until the 74th minute for their second. Lawless was again the goal scorer; this time finding the net from 20 yards out with a shot that found the net via the underside of the bar.

The third goal came in the 81st minute after Kris Doolan tapped the ball in from close range.

Thistle’s next three games are now all away from home and if they beat Raith Rovers on Tuesday they will go top of the table.
