Thistle face tough trip to Fir Park

Partick Thistle will face a tough trip to Fir Park on Saturday to take on a high flying Motherwell side who have European football firmly in their sights.

The last time the two sides met Thistle were on the wrong end of a 5-1 defeat at Firhill at the end of last year.

However, with fresh legs in the door since then and some encouraging performances already from the new faces, the outcome could be very different this time around.

With no games last Saturday because of League Cup action, Thistle will be keen to turn their good performances into goals and lift themselves above the play-off zone.

A club spokesman said: “Results haven’t been too bad recently, but we know they could have been a lot better.

“We had a decent comeback against Dundee United in our last game and we showed a bit of character to get a point.”

It is clear, however, that Thistle will have to up their game from their last clash with Stuart McCall’s side.

There could also be a bit of revenge on the Thistle players’ minds because of the beating they got the last time the two teams met.
