Thistle boss remains wary of St Mirren

Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald has warned his players not to underestimate St Mirren ahead of their crucial double-header.

The Buddies travel to Firhill this Friday evening on SPFL duty before returning next Tuesday for their League Cup tie.

St Mirren have yet to win this season, having only registered one goal from their opening five games.

However, Archibald insists his side will take nothing for granted when they two sides meet.

He said: “We know they will be low on confidence given their league start so far, but we’re well aware that they will have to win at some point.

“We’re heading into the game on the back of a good result against Inverness, who at the time had yet to concede a goal. Being at home as well give us a good opportunity to get another three points.”

He added: “In terms of the cup, I think it’s very important that we try and get a good run this year.

“It’s not just in terms of finances; we haven’t had a lot of big cup games in recent seasons and Tuesday will give us a chance to put things right.”
