FOUR talented young tennis players competed in the AEGON Team Tennis Schools National Championships last week.
The up-and-coming athletes won their place in the tournament when they were crowned winners at both the Scotland Finals in September and the North Regional Finals in November.
As a result, the youngsters took part in the Boys National Final, played at the Bolton Arena.
Among them was Milngavie’s Ross Paterson and Hamish Stewart from Strathblane, who joined with team-mates Euan Gibson-Smith and James Shemilt.
The team came fourth overall and were each given bronze medals for their efforts.
More than 2,300 school teams took part from across the UK through local, regional and national competitions, with just over 500 teams competing in the Year 8 Boys’ event.
In the finals they played in a round robin group against the South East, South West and Midlands regional winners.
