It has been a very busy Summer for Milngavie and Bearsden Swimming Club’s Megan Donnelly.
Open water season started for the 17 year old in June at the German Open water Championships in Rostock.
Her first race was the 10k but due to severe weather conditions the race had to be stopped with Megan having 800m to go to finish.
The next day conditions improved and in the 5K Megan, from Mosshead Road in Bearsden, won bronze in her age group.
Then it was off to France for the French Cup with the Scottish Development squad. The ffirst race took place in Pierrrelatte in the South of France where she won bronze in the Open and bronze in Age Group.
The squad moved onto Hostens near Bordeaux where Megan won silver in 5k. Next day it was the 10k where she won silver in Open & Gold in Age group.
It was then back home for The Scottish Open Water Championship at Loch Tay where Megan came Joint 1st in the Women’s 5k on the Saturday and with terrible weather on the Sunday, she won the Women’s 10K.
Megan has now been selected to represent Scotland at the Dutch National Open Water Championships taking place in Oosterhout on Saturday and Sunday where she will compete in the 5 and 10k.
