PARTICK Thistle put promotion rivals Dunfermline to the sword on Saturday, thrashing them 5-1 at Firhill.

The result sees the Jags go three points clear at the top of Division One.

More than 5000 spectators saw the game - one of the biggest crowds at Firhill for years.

Manager Jackie McNamara thanked the supporters.

He said: Saturday was a memorable occasion for the club. A big crowd, a fantastic atmosphere inside the stadium and to cap it all the perfect result on the pitch.

“We can’t thank our supporters enough for their backing on Saturday. The players were blown away by the support they received and it’s still a topic of conversation at training.”
