SQUASH NEWS

THERE were mixed results for Allander Cyan squash first and second teams with the former consolidating their push for promotion, while the seconds losing to a recognised strong team from Strathclyde.

Allander Cyan first team came away with the maximum 5-0 against David Lloyd Renfrew.

First on court was Ken Findlay, playing at three. The first game went to Ken and the next two went his way two giving him a 3-0 victory.

Chris McGeady at two playing some nice shots but lacking consistency. He found his rhythm took the first game easily. Chris went on to win the next two games for a solid 3-0 victory.

Jaco Ferreira at five also won his game 3-0.

At four Alastair Graves, much the father’s son, seemed reluctant to make things easy for himself. He initially struggled to find his normal pace and was 2-0 down within about five minutes.

But Alastair came back in the third laying some nice tight shots to the front of the court to win the next two games and went on to take the final game and win the match 3-2. Both players received man of the match.

In the evening’s final match, Phil Graves was pushed from the very start. His opponent played well from the off and the match was initially very tight. Phil won the first but was unlucky to lose the second at game point.

Fitness once again prevailed, as the David Lloyd player seemed to run out of steam. Phil took the third and fourth games and the match 3-1.

Allander Cyan second team were not so luck losing 4-1 at home to a team from Strathclyde University.

Gordon Gray playing at five cruised to a 3-0 victory, But Hamish McKay at four went down 3-0.
