Two Bearsden brothers have won the overall title in the prestigious British Indoor Freestyle Championships in Manchester.

Snowboarder Matt McCormick (17) and his younger brother, skier Chris (16) were competing at the Chill Factor Indoor Snow Centre on Saturday. There were over 120 competitors split evenly between snowboarding and freeskiing representing the best freestyle athletes in the UK.

Matt’s British Indoor Freestyle Snowboard Champion win means he has now added this title to the his Scottish title he won earlier this year.

His younger brother, Chris (16), was crowned freeskiing champion after a tough series of races.

The boys dad Gerry, said: “This has given them the perfect start to their season as both boys now turn their attention to training and competing abroad, initially in Austria and then travelling to Colorado in December to train with Team GB.”

Both teenagers also hold the current title of club champions at Bearsden Ski Club, where they train weekly with their coach, Neil MacGrain of Snowsport Scotland. In recognition of their potential as future international athletes, Matt and Chris have also been selected to join the Sport Scotland Institute of Sport and are put through their paces at The Emirates Arena.
