Schools rise to the athletics challenge

Active Schools held the annual Bearsden and Milngavie Primary Athletics Championship at Boclair Academy on Thursday (May 28).

A total of 13 local primary schools competed in the five events throughout the morning including shot putt, standing long jump, 60m, 600m and 4x100m relay.

The schools that took part were: Baldernock, Baljaffray, Bearsden, Castlehill, Clober, Colquhoun Park, Craigdhu, Killermont, Milngavie, Mosshead, St Andrew’s, Torrance and Westerton.

Catriona Shields, Active Schools Coordinator for East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust, said: “The day was a great success with some strong performances in each category despite the inclement weather.

“Active Schools would like to congratulate all of the children’s efforts throughout the event and thank the staff and volunteers who helped make the event such a great success.”

Medals were awarded to those who came first, second and third.
