BUDDING young footballers from this area of the district were among 220 children from 10 primary schools across East Dunbartonshire who competed in a fun packed day of football at Celtic FC Training Complex, Lennoxtown.
Castlehill, Colquhoun Park and St Andrew’s in Bearsden and St Joseph’s in Milngavie were among schools who, over the last six weeks, have been involved in coaching sessions culminating in the Tesco Bank Football Challenge grand final.
The challenge is part of a four year community programme run in partnership with the SFA. and seeks to get kids from six to eight engaged in healthy and active lifestyles.
In addition to coaching, 25 teachers in East Dunbartonshire have gone through SFA training to continue coaching in their schools.
SFA development officer Scott Murray, said: “The challenge is a great initiative which is all about getting the young kids taking part and having fun.
“It is not only about learning basic football skills but also about getting children involved in physical activity and leading healthier, happier lives.”
