Baljaffray U19s welcomed Renfrewshire to King George V playing Field - and shared the points in this 3-3 encounter in the Paisley and Johnston District League division two game.
Baljaffray started the better side and broke the deadlock in the 12th minute when Jordan Lindsay rose up to accurately head the ball in.
Nico McLeod’s long throws were causing lots of problems for Renfrewshire and helped Baljaffray’s second goal on 33 minutes. The powerful throw was launched into the box and again Lindsay was the first to the ball, however, this time his header hit the wrong side of the post but fell to Ross Courtney who flicked the ball home.
Baljaffray were unlucky when only 10 minutes later they almost increased their lead. Liam Fergusson found Danny Whittam in the box, he skilfully beat two defenders but his shot was well saved by the Renfrewshire keeper with the half finishing 2-0.
Renfrewshire started the second half better and their early pressure was rewarded with a goal from a corner. Poor marking allowed the player to run free and bullet a header into the net making the score 2-1.
Manager Fred Musleh made a tactical substitution in an attempt to relieve the pressure on the Baljaffray defence. This immediately brought dividends when, in the sixty fifth minute Fergusson restored Baljaffray’s two goal cushion. Despite not having a lot of support he managed to fire a low ball into the area, it deflected in off a defender and into the bottom corner making it 3-1.
Renfrewshire managed to pull a goal back when Baljaffray were dispossessed in midfield. The ball was fed to the striker who punished Baljaffray’s carelessness.
With only 10 minutes left Renfrewshire equalised. The ball was crossed from the right and the striker’s header looped over Mick Quinn and into the goal.
