CLYDESDALE Harrier Peter Cartwright was the first club runner to cross the line in the veteran’s section of the Scottish Athletics Masters 6k Cross Country Championships at Kilmarnock - in 27mins 25secs.

In very muddy wet conditions he was followed in by Marina McCallum (28.43), Alistair Kerr (29.22), Bobby Young (30.23) and Watson Jones (30.58).

In the main race over 8k the fastest runner was Paul Carroll in 33mins 45secs. Other times were Hugh Laverty (37.04), Gerry Kerr (41.54) and Peter Rudzinski (45.49).

The club are still looking for new members. They train on Tuesdays at St Peter the Apostle High School from 7pm, Thursdays 6.45pm at East Thompson Street car park for the Seniors and 7pm at Lussett Park for juniors and seniors.
