The first of the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Series kicked off last Thursday at Helensburgh with Clydesdale Harriers’ runner Paul Carroll running a personal best time of 35mins 28secs - closely followed by Donald Cameron whose pb was 35.50. In all 12 club members took part.
Other times were Derek Halpin (38.01), Martin King (42.26), Bobby Young (44.18), Fiona McCue (45.44), Christine Duncanson (45.52 and 3rd vet 50), Watson Jones (48.18), Yvonne Green (49.51), Marie Rippon (52.30), Kevin Farmer (53.35) and Colin Gray (52.54).
The previous Saturday there were a number of victories and prizes for members. At the Dick Wedlock Memorial 10k at Pollock Park Marina McCallum won the woman’s race comfortably in a time of 42.10 over a testing undulating course.
The next day Pamela McCrossan showed a clean pair of heels to other women in the Monklands Half Marathon finishing in 1hr 31mins 58secs.
Also that day was the Walter Ross SVHC 10k also at Pollock Park where Gerry Montgomery finished in 37mins, followed by Bobby Young (46.14).
In the Ignis Asset Management Womens 10k in Glasgow on May 7 fastest Harrier was Pamela McCrossan with a time of 41mins 35secs, coming 43rd overall out of the more than 8,000 who took part. She was followed by Christine Duncanson (46.01) and Yvonne Green (51.28).
Lastly on Wednesday May 4 the SVHC Snowball Race (4.8 Miles) at Coatbridge saw Gerry Montgomery run well to finish in 28.51, followed by Pamela McCrossan (32.22) and Bobby Young (33.14).
