Partick Thistle get set to take on Cowdenbeath
PARTICK Thistle need to focus on getting a win in tomorrow's away game against newly promoted Cowdenbeath, according to Paul Paton.
The right back said the squad can not take anything for granted following their 2-0 defeat at the hands of Morton last Saturday and their CIS Cup reversal to Falkirk on Tuesday evening and need to learn from the mistakes they have made.
The 23-year-old said: "Cowdenbeath are a bit of an unknown quantity. They lost a lot of players at the end of last season, so we are not sure what they are capable of."
The Firhill faithful will be hoping the Jags can pull off a similar win against the Blue Brazil that Queen of the South achieved last week in their 3-1 victory.
However, Paton believes the team need to address the careless mistakes they made against Morton if they want any chance of moving up the table.
He added: "The only positive thing I can say about last Saturday's game is that at least we are making the mistakes early in the season, so have the time to work on correcting them."
Paton maintains that the match against Morton was one they should not have lost, but did so because of their mistakes.
He added: "We just didn't get going. The chances we had we didn't capitalise on. The first goal was a mistake. Morton didn't really have to work for it."
Despite the setback Paton believes the Jags haven't made too bad a start to the season and is pleased the team have not picked up any new injuries.
As far a team spirit is concerned, Paton said: "Everyone is working well together. We all know we can't dwell in the past, we just need to focus and start tomorrow's game with the right mindset. "
