Partick Thistle’s sparkle doesn’t give them full points

A series of missed chances and good goalkeeping denied Thistle what would have been a richly deserved Boxing Day win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle with a 0-0 result at Firhill.

The opening exchanges in the game were pretty scrappy with the only effort worthy mentioning in the first ten minutes. Kallum Higginbotham, who had a free kick from the left corner of the Inverness box shot over the bar.

Thistle gradually took control with Higginbotham again in the action, but his shot on goal was saved by the legs of goalie Dean Brill.

At the other end Thistle saved well throughout the 90 minutes with the exception of one moment midway through the first half when they came close to gifting Inverness an undeserved lead. Thistle continued where they had left off after the break increasing the pressure on Inverness, but try as they did, that elusive goal was denied them.
