Partick Thistle right-back Stephen O’Donnell will miss the rest of the season as he prepares to go under the knife for a hip operation.

O’Donnell has had a good season with The Jags this season, but not be available when the squad play Kilmarmock away as they battle to beat the drop from the SPFL Premiership in the coming weeks.

The player will join midfield duo Sean Welsh and Isaac Osbourne who have been out now for several months.

And to add to the list defender Conrad Balatoni missed last weekend’s 4-2 defeat by Hearts due to a hand knock.

Gaffer Alan Archibald said: “We have picked up a lot of injuries recently and it is hard to work the players too hard because we are down to the bare bones at the moment.”

On O’Donnell Archibald said he was due to go in for an operation on a hip problem and that will be him out for the rest of the season.

But he was confident he would welcome him back for pre-season training.
