PARTICK Thistle came back from a one goal deficit in the dying minutes of this game against bottom of the table Airdrie United to beat them 2-1 and move eight points clear at the top of the Irn-Bru First Division.
Although the Firhill outfit stared positively Airdrie’s goalie Robbie Thomson was on form and it was against the run of play that Liam Watt scored in the 35th minute due in large part to some indecisive play by Thistle.
The visitors didn’t really threaten for the rest of the first half, but after the restart a number of great opportunities to equalise were missed.
But in the 89th minute the third of three corners was successfully headed by Conrad Balatoni into the net.
Amazingly there was still time to win the game. Christie Elliott didn’t make the cleanest of contacts with his shot but it was enough to find the net and spark scenes of jubilation.
