BEARSDEN Golf club ladies section held its SLGA Medal last Thursday. The SSS was 71 and CSS 73 and 20 golfers took part. Results: Silver S. Mumford (20) 71, bronze I. Stokes (34) 77, scratch S. Mumford 91.

CLOBER Golf Club held its Seniors Open Trophy recently. Results. Age 55-63: 1st R. Dobie (Douglas Park) Nett 66, 2nd A. Hammond (Douglas Park) 68 Nett.

Age 64-70: 1st J. McWilliams (Clober) 63 Nett, 2nd T. Nelson (Clober) 65 Nett. Age 71+: J. Lydon (Clober) 65 Nett (bih). 2nd J. Morton (Irvine Bogside) 65 Nett.

Senior Trophy Winner John McWilliams (Clober). Scratch Winner G Brown (Strathendrick).

The Captain’s Day Trophy was also held at the same time. Results: 1st Class: 1st Grant Rutherford 68-10-58, 2nd Clint Maxwell 63-3-60: 2nd Class: 1st Craig Smith 70-12-58, 2nd James Traynor 77-17-60: 3rd Class:1st Gavin Hughes 84-23-61, 2nd David Speirs 83-20-63.

The club’s ladies’ section also held its SLGA Brooch competition recently. The SSS was 67 and the CSS 67. A total of 16 players took part. Results: Silver: Scratch May Myers with 83. Frances McPherson 70 (20). Bronze: Scratch Gillian Morrison with 98. Susan Ferguson (acb) 71 (26), Audrey Turnbull 71 (33).

BALMORE Golf Club gents section held its Billy Paton Millennium Trophy on Saturday which attracted 101 golfers. The winner was Jack McKenna Jnr with 65 (4) acb and the lowest gross was Fraser McKenna with 66.

Full results: 1st class: Paul Reilly 66 (7), Graham Burns 67 (10) acb, James Wilson 67 (2). Second class: David Boyle 65 (15), Paul Jamieson 67 (14) acb, Andy Sharp 67 (15) acb, Les Willison 69 (22) acb, Milton Martin 69 (23), Andrew Park 70 (21).

In the club’s August Stableford event on Sunday August 19 which attracted 78 golfers the results were: Division 1: Stewart Ingram 38 points (10), Nicky Twigg 36 points (11) count back, David Hutchinson 36 points. Division 2: Michael Jamieson 37 points (15), David Boyle 35 points (15) count back, Harry Jamieson 35 points (13). Division 3: Thomas Mcgann 36 points (20), Mark McGregor 35 points (25),

3rd Robert Greig 29 points (21).

Meanwhile the ladies’ section held its Golf Foundation Brooch stroke competition which attracted

32 entries. Result: Division 1: Avril Leitch (12) 74, Carol Sim (16) 75, Margo Rees (14) 78.

Division 2: Christine Buchanan (36) 63, Wilma Barrowman (29) 65, Ann Fisher (34) 69. And in the club’s Stableford Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice Rosebowl which attracted seven lady golfers, the results were: Carol Sim (16) 35 points, Wilma Barrowman (25) 27 points, Gillian Sangster (21) 25 points.

DOUGLAS Park Golf Club ladies’ section held their Autumn Meeting last Friday. A total of 42 golfers took part and the SSS and CSS were both 72. Results: Silver Division: Fiona Rattray net 71 handicap 19, Gillian Hendry net 75 handicap 12. Bronze Division: Laura MacDougall net 81 handicap 23, Marie Bryce net 82 handicap 21. The best scratch was Gillian Hendry with 87.

DUNBARTONSHIRE & Argyll Ladies County Golf Association held its Spring Meeting and MacNaughtan Trophy

last Thursday at Helensburgh Golf Club. The first scratch and winner of the MacNaughtan Trophy was H. Faulds from Douglas Park Golf Club with 83. Other results: 1st Silver & Winner of Golf Foundation Brooch – A Fairbairn (Troon) 90 (15) 75, 2nd Silver - H. Faulds 83 (5) 78 bih, 3rd Silver - E. Mulholland (Hilton Park) 92 (14) 78, 1st Bronze, E. Fenner (Hilton Park) 106 (25) 81, 2nd Bronze - J McGregor (Windyhill) 104 (21) 83. A total of 34 golfers took part in the event which had an SSS of 72 and CSS of 75.
