A BEARSDEN mother and daughter golfing team are hoping to win through to the third round of the prestigious amateur Daily Mail Foursomes on Sunday.

Lynn McColl, who plays off a handicap of seven and her 19-year-old daughter Megan, are all set for the next round of the seven round championship and will have home advantage when they play a pair from Buchanan Castle, at Bearsden Golf Club.

Last year’s club champion, Lynn (52), said: “We should do well as it’s at home. We are confident and hope to do our best.”

Lynn and Megan, who plays off 28, were selected to represent their club after beating some stiff competion from fellow lady golfers in their club. They had a bye in the first round, to compete against a team from Holland Bush, Lesmahagow in the second - beating this team four and two.

The tournament is a major amateur event with more than 190,000 players competing in their club qualifying rounds for a chance to win The Daily Mail Silver Challenge Trophy in October at the Marriott Dalmahoy Hotel & County Club near Edinburgh.
