Talented young golfer Ewen Ferguson is one of the nine strong squad who will play Europe in Wales this week.
The 17-year-old from Bearsden, who recently won the Boys’ Amateur Championship, is part of the Great Britain and Ireland team who take on the best players from the continent on Friday at St David’s Golf Club in Wales in the Jacques Leglise Trophy.
Ewen’s coach of four years, Gregor Monks, said: “This is the first time Ewen has been selected for the squad and he is doing what he loves.
“This is a massive trophy and I think he will do well.”
Ewen, who plays off a handicap of +3 will be up against some of the Europeans he beat in the Scottish Amateur competition.
Monks added: “Ewen beat Germany’s Michael Hirmers, so there will be an element of revenge.”
