Milngavie’s Imogen Bankier through to the next round

REIGNING world mixed doubles badminton silver medallist Imogen Bankier, from Milngavie, teamed up with Bulgaria’s Petya Nedelcheva to book her place in the main draw of the women’s doubles at the Yonex All England Championships in Birmingham this week.

Bankier and Nedelcheva beat England’s Heather Olver and Kate Robertshaw 21-6 21-15 then turned in an impressive display to beat second qualifying seeds Samantha Barning and Eefje Muskens 21-14 21-16.
