Milngavie golfer Anna Telfer has been crowned the Scottish Ladies Senior Strokeplay Champion.
The tournament was held at West Linton Golf Course earlier this month, with a total of 90 ladies aged 50 and over entering from across Scotland.
In wet and very windy conditions – which made playing very tough – all of the competitors were faced with a very tricky course.
Anna said: “Although the fairways were generous, the rough was extremely thick and lush, so we all faced a stern test.
The competition consisted of two rounds, and Anna was lying in second place after the first day of the event with a score of 76, which was two shots off the lead.
The wind blew even harder on the second day and scoring was higher in the difficult conditions.
However, a pair of birdie twos – her first coming at the second and then another at the long 17th – sealed a one-shot victory for the Milngavie Golf Club member.
Anna said: “I am obviously delighted with my victory and thrilled to be a Scottish Champion. It is a dream come true for me, and something which I will treasure for the rest of my life”
Anna, who is a past captain of Milngavie Golf Club and also a past captain of Dunbartonshire and Argyll, is currently the captain of the West of Scotland Veterans’ Association.
She has now been selected to represent Scotland in the team to play a quadrangular match against England next month.
