PARTICK Thistle have unveiled a new shirt sponsorship deal worth a “considerable” five-figure sum.

Just Employment Law (JEL) will be emblazoned across the Jags’ shirts until the end of the current season after the club’s main sponsor Macb went into administration last month.

Chairman David Beattie announced the partnership with the Glasgow based legal firm with its managing director David McRae on Monday.

The investment made by JEL will help cement the financial security of the club.

Mr Beattie said: “Thistle have had a couple of financial blows in the past few months so we are delighted today to give the fans positive news as we announce our new front of shirt sponsorship deal.

“It didn’t take long to thrash out the details with the JEL team as they were very keen to come on board and be part of Thistle. JEL will be a very hands on sponsor and we look forward to building a firm relationship with them”

Mr McRae said: “We’re delighted to enter into this partnership with Thistle, who are not only a venerable Glasgow institution but also our local team.

“We believe this deal will further enhance our profile within the legal services market and that this will be a winning combination for both parties.”

JEL are not the only new faces at Firhill this week as the club completed the transfer of Hibs midfielder Sean Welsh, on loan till March 30.

The 21 year old has progressed through the youth ranks at Easter Road although he hasn’t yet made the breakthrough into the first team.

Manager Jackie McNamara said: “Sean is a good passer of the ball and can score a goal or two.”

The Jags are back in action after a two week lay-off when they take on Livingston at Almondvale on Saturday.

There are also two new dates for Thistle fans to put in their diaries.

Ayr United visit Firhill on Tuesday, February 21, kick-off 7.45pm, in a re-arranged league match and the club’s away fixture with Ross County, postponed once because of the weather and again due to the Staggies’ involvement in the Scottish Cup, will take place on Tuesday, March 6, also with a 7.45pm kick-off.
