Clydesdale Harriers’ athletes were in action recently in a number of races.

On the Saturday was the Kirkudbright Half Marathon, and on the Sunday club athletes were at the Edinburgh Marathon and Half Marathon. Results for these races will be in next week’s paper.

Last Thursday was the second in the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Road Race Series. This was the club’s own organised race at Clydebank. It started and finished on the service road at the back of the Clyde

Shopping Centre and went out through the Business Park into Dalmuir and along the Forth and Clyde

Canal. A lot of club members, young and old, helped out with marshalling the course, and a few of them also competed.

Fastest harrier was Kevin Farmer who had a blistering run to finish in a personal best time of 35mins 10secs, followed by James Austin (35.40), Pamela McCrossan (39.57 and 1st vet over 50), Alan Dick (40.57), Bobby Young (42.09), Gus Cairney (43.00), and Colin Gray (49.34).

The previous weekend in the Lochwinnoch 10k which was a mixed road and trail race, Alan Dick had a good run to finish in 42mins 43secs.

Today Thursday (May 29) is the third in the Polaroid Eyewear 10k Road Race Series in Dumbarton. The race starts at 7.30pm.
