John’s Highland fling

JOHN MURRAY was first club runner across the line out of the five who competed in the Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games’ 10k Road Race at Burnbrae, Milngavie on Saturday in seventh place in 39mins 39secs.

He was followed in 19th place by Craig Brown - 43:31, 20th Norman Baillie - 44:19, 39th Davie Geddes - 47:57 and 47th Tariq Abdullah - 50:46.

A total of 77 runners completed the course.

Earlier that day two Garscube Harriers completed the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park. Jill O’Neil set a race pb finishing 49th in 21mins 7secs and Andrew Bell came in 191st out of 292 runners in 28mins 46secs.

Adam Taylor finished in fifth in 54mins 54secs in the Cort-ma Law Hill 10k race with a climb 450 metres at Lennoxtown. A total of 79 runners completed the race.

Five Garscube Harriers runners turned out for the Glasgow Parkrun 5k race at Pollok Country Park on Saturday June 4. Dave Robertson finished in 3rd place in 17mins 47 secs. Cody Stevenson was 56th in 21:53, Lindsay Robertson improved her pb for the distance by more than two minutes when finishing in 118th place in 24:55, Stuart Irvine finished in 140th place in 25:53 (race pb) and Andrew Bell came in 191st in 28:52; 275 finished.

Forty seven members of Garscube Harriers took part in the Polaroid Eyewear Dumbarton 10k Road Race on Thursday June 2. Joe McKnight was first home for the club in 6th place in 33mins 34secs and the Garscube Men’s Team of Joe, Euan Geddes 11th in 34:37 and Stephen Mulrine 13th in 34:46, won the second team prize with a total of 30 points.

Garscube Harriers young athlete Rory Stevenson finished in 7th place in the first heat of the 800 metres races for S2 Boys in the Dumbarton Schools Sports Association Championships at Grangemouth Stadium recently in 2mins 42.3secs.

Adam Taylor and james Quigley competed in the 10.2k Kilpatricks Hill Race with a total accent of 426 metres at the beginning of the month. Adam finished 4th in 48mins 12secs and James was 30th in 55:58.

A total of 96 competitors finished the race.
